I am a multi award-winning wildlife film producer, director, series producer and executive producer. My career spans thirty years and includes the major landmark series Life, Galapagos, Wild Africa, Yellowstone, Mexico: Earth’s Festival of Life, Thailand: Earth’s Tropical Paradise, Wild West, British Isles: A Natural History and Wild Europe and a range of highly acclaimed specials including Islands in the African Sky, Wings over the Serengeti, People of the Sea, Grizzly: Face to Face, Hokkaido:Garden of the Gods and Dune.
I also directed the highly ambitious 80’ 3D movie Enchanted Kingdom for BBC Earth Films, Reliance Entertainment and IM Global and the 40’ giant screen version Wild Africa 3D.
My films have twice been awarded the Best of Festival ( 'Grand Teton' award) and three time Best Limited Series at the Jackson Hole International Wildlife Film Festival. I’ve won a highly prestigious Peabody award for film making excellence from the University of Georgia, best motion picture documentary at the International 3D and Advanced Imaging Society, (the equivalent of a 3D Oscar), two Magnolia awards at the Shanghai documentary festival for Best Nature documentary, three Best of Festival awards at IWFF Missoula and four Wildscreen pandas ('the Green Oscars') including Best Series and Best Environment/Conservation film.
I have recently completed work as producer/director on The Hidden Kingdoms of China, a 5-part series for Nat Geo Wild with Brian Leith Productions due for broadcast later this year and am now executive producer on a global environmental series The Age of Nature with Brian Leith Productions for PBS, BBC Studios and The Nature Conservancy. I am also executive producer on The Secret Life of the Farm series with Blakeway Productions for Love Nature, Smithsonian and ARTE and on the 90’ documentary feature Together with ZED, Paris for France Televisions. I am also developing a range of exciting new projects through my company Impala Pictures.
I graduated from the University of Leeds with a first class honours in Zoology and am a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, an Ambassador for Just a Drop, a BAFTA member and Vice President of Hospiscare. I also enjoy public speaking and have given numerous talks about the nature of my work.
